Financial Planning Process

What is the value of advice?

What is the value of advice?

Many of my clients share a common goal. They desire to be financially secure and live a happy and healthy life as they age. They need to feel financially confident and able to provide for the ones they love. But just because their goal is common, it doesn't mean my approach to financial planning should be. My job as a financial advisor is, first, to understand you and your specific goals and circumstances and, second, to use that knowledge and tailor a plan to help you meet your financial goals.

A tailored plan goes far beyond simply choosing investment products. My process entails a deep knowledge and appreciation of your objectives, needs, long-term goals, time horizon, risk tolerance and - most importantly - your personal values. It was developed to pre-experience the future by engaging in scenario planning, examining cash flows, expenses, distribution strategies, and potential risk to your success. I have a heavy focus on tax efficient planning because while growing your dollars is important, keeping more of them is just as important.

The financial planning process

No matter your financial destination, we believe a comprehensive plan offers the greatest potential for getting there. A personalized plan – one supported by tax efficient strategies that fit your investment profile – will enable us to identify your goals and take consistent action to work towards them.

As we work through your priorities, we’ll keep in mind the four basic lifecycle phases of financial planning.

Accumulation

Accumulation

A saving and investing period that usually runs from your early working years until your late 40s.

Pre-retirement

Pre-retirement

A time to manage your funds and transition to more conservative investing, usually your 50s and early 60s.

Retirement

Retirement

The time when you begin your post-work life and live off your investment income.

Legacy

Legacy

A time to pass down what you’ve learned and acquired to the next generation.
